From Sierra Leone to the World: How ReTE Empowers Young Changemakers

In Sierra Leone, where access to quality education remains a challenge, Musa Konneh is leading a movement for change. A passionate advocate for human rights, women’s empowerment, and education, Musa serves as a ReTE Regional Impact Leader & Executive Coordinator. Through his work with Youth in Leadership Transformation Africa, the Ken G Morka Foundation, and the Movement for Education and Advocacy Network Salone, he has witnessed firsthand the barriers young people face in research education—and how Research to Empower (ReTE) is breaking them down.

Through ReTE’s interactive curriculum, Musa has empowered students to tackle climate change, gender inequality, and educational access with evidence-based research and advocacy.

Why Research Matters

Research isn’t just for scientists—it’s a powerful tool for every changemaker. Musa’s leadership through ReTE has helped young people:

✅ Develop real-world solutions through independent research projects

✅ Advocate for education and social justice using data-driven insights

✅ Collaborate globally to share knowledge and drive change

With ReTE’s support, he is bringing research education to underprivileged communities, ensuring that every student—regardless of background—has the opportunity to learn, explore, and innovate.
